VCSN Committees

Weatherization Committee

The VCSN Weatherization Committee is working on a project to create a weatherization training workshop for Vermont students.  The working idea is to offer regional workshops that combine introductory energy loss principles and a hands-on, applied training that would focus on "strip, caulk & foam" practices. Skills and principles learned in these workshops would be brought back to campuses for practice and implementation. After a gaining a certain level of proficiency and with proper supervision, trained students could apply these skills to their off-campus housing and eventually into the broader community.

Collective Reporting Committee

At the January 27 VCSN Biannual meeting, the VCSN members discussed pooling greenhouse gas emissions inventories into a collective report, and decided to create a committee in support of that effort. After viewing Nell Campbell’s presentation on Reporting Greenhouse Gas Emissions, the group at the January meeting decided it would be valuable for Vermont institutions to report collectively on emissions, thus facilitating some agreement as to methodology and promoting a more productive conversation about reducing emissions at the state level. More widespread reporting is one way to advance our collective work to address climate change. The Collective Reporting Committee currently has representatives from UVM, Middlebury College, Champlain College, Goddard College, and St Michael's College.  Additional participants are welcome.
